Microsoft Workers 4 Good, a group of Microsoft workers, is campaigning for their employer to cancel a $479m HoloLens military contract with US Army.
The group believes that HoloLens is developed for non-harmful means, including helping architects and engineers design buildings and cars, teaching complex surgery, and even to push the boundaries of gaming. Not to help people kill.
CEO of the Microsoft, Satya Nadella, responded to this campaign by saying “We made a principled decision that we’re not going to withhold technology from institutions that we have elected in democracies to protect the freedoms we enjoy”. At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
French site Jeux Video reported that Microsoft will reveal code-named Lockhart and Anaconda at it’s E3 2019 press conference.
As reported, Lockhart is a disc-less console which will be cheaper than the regular Xbox One. And Anaconda is a slimmer, newer version of the Xbox One X. And both console will be launch in fall of 2020.
Rumor posted on Reddit – which is now deleted – suggest that next generation Xbox will feature 1TB NVMe and DirectX Raytracing. And apparently verified ResetEra forums user, hmqgg, confirmed that this is true.
We have to take this with a grain of salt but leak also suggest that it will be officially revealed at GDC 2019, so we have to wait and see.
